About Me
I first realized what an incredible tool food is when I accidentally rid myself of chronic panic attacks and migraines simply by experimenting with my diet. My goal had only been to have a little more energy, so I was shocked - and thrilled - to be freed from those significant issues. Obsessed with learning as much as I could, I continued to work on improving my health and became increasingly passionate about sharing what I was learning with others in an effort to help them feel better too.
At the time, I had a career as a 1st Assistant Camera in the film industry, which I adored and will always miss. Unfortunately, my all-or-nothing personality combined with the nature of that work didn't quite allow for the slower-paced lifestyle I was wanting to cultivate. So I decided to take a step back to keep pursuing my love for nutrition and invest in my own health. I enrolled with the Nutritional Therapy Association and completed my certification in the summer of 2022. One day I hope to combine my two loves and create a documentary on health and wellness.
As I learned more about the countless ways nutrient dense eating supports the human body, cultural attitudes about wellness and aging started to jump out at me. The despondent acceptance of bodies starting to decline at fairly young ages - as if there was nothing that could be done to fight for a higher quality of life - drove me to continue learning. I learned to view those so-called inevitabilities not as cruel fate, but as signs of something else going wrong, of the body crying out for help in the only ways it knew how. So I started learning how to help answer that call as able, and I believe one of the first places where that starts is our food and lifestyle.
As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP), I believe the human body has remarkable abilities to take care of itself when provided with the proper building blocks. So when I come alongside a client, we focus together on the foundations of health to support them in their long-term goals. Those foundations are nutrition, digestion, blood sugar regulation, fatty acid intake, hydration, and minerals. I also utilize some lifestyle changes to address stress management, support quality sleep, and reduce environmental toxins.
Our bodies and lives are invaluable gifts well worth cherishing. I consider it a great honor to come alongside people and help them learn to deeply nourish and love those gifts.
My family and I live on a small acreage in southern Minnesota where we raise some animals and grow much of our yearly produce. We are active members of our local church and are thankful to have access to quite a few regenerative farms in our area doing incredible work providing people with high-quality, nutrient dense local food.
